Abstract

This panel presentation reflects on the personal experiences of the supervisory team (Jennifer Moran Stritch and Carmel McKenna) and postgrad student Lucy Barry Dawkins during a 2 year Master of Arts by Research project at Limerick Institute of Technology. The research programme was co-sponsored by LIT and An Comhdhail na Muinteori le Rinci (Congress of Irish Dance Teachers). The emotional experiences of Irish dancers as they approach, undergo and emerge from one phase of their competitive dance career to the next was the focus of the research, with ambiguous loss serving as the analytic lens.
