Abstract

This chapter describes the use of supercritical fluids in modern polymer processing operations. The technologies required to use supercritical fluids in polymer processing operation in addition to the effects of supercritical fluids on both the polymer material and the final product are outlined. A brief history and the advantages of using supercritical fluids are presented first, followed by a discussion on the use of supercritical fluids in the synthesis, processing, blending, impregnation and reclamation of polymers.
