Mike is an accomplished musician, producer, and sound engineer with nearly two decades of experience. With expertise extending to both studio production and live events, his varied credits include names such as Thurston Moore (Sonic Youth), Grant Hart (Hüsker Dü), The Cranberries, Dylan Flynn & The Dead Poets, Japanese Jesus, and PowPig. His work in these domains, as well as being a former member of the Choice Music Prize-nominated band windings (2010 to 2022) have seen Mike be heavily involved in the Irish Music Industry.
Current research focus is in exploring how popular music production is taught and learned, with a focus on innovative methods for music production & technology education. This work examines the ways in which musicians and sound engineers collaborate during music production and live events, looking at how teamwork and interaction shape the creative process.
Another key area of research is the use of technology to enable musicians, engineers, technicans, and educators to work together in real-time from different locations, offering new possibilities for remote music production and technology teaching.
