Personal profile

Research interests

Research interests include physiological attributes and their influence on (i) workload, fatigue, and the subsequent timeline of recovery in team sport athletes, and (ii) performance in ageing master athletes.

Since completing his PhD in 2022, Dr Daly has been developing research programmes in these areas, presently collaborating with a wide range of national and international research groups.

Personal profile

Lorcan Daly is a lecturer in sport and exercise science and a physiologist studying human performance, ageing, and cardiopulmonary function in master athletes and team-sport populations. His work examines master athletes as a model of successful ageing and how athletes across sports can maximise performance and recovery. He applies integrative methods such as oxygen uptake kinetics, power-duration modelling, exercise biochemistry, spirometry and psychophysiological assessments of performance, endurance physiology, fatigue and recovery.
