Research Interests

Aoife's research interests are underpinned by efforts to close the gender data gap and build equality for girls and women in sport, physical activity, exercise and health.  Aoife is actively engaged in research projects on female athlete health, empowerment, role models, equality in leadership and benefits of physical activity for girls and women across the lifespan, particularly in sport settings.

Personal profile

Aoife is from Ballinderreen in Galway.  Aoife has a BSc in Sport and Exercise Science from UL, an MA in Health Promotion from University of Galway and a PhD in Physical Activity and Health from SETU Waterford.  Aoife has been involved in Gaelic games in many areas; participating and volunteering in her club and as a member of local and national working groups on coaching, sports science and equality.
