Organisation profile

The SHE Research Centre is embedded in the Department of Sport and Health Sciences, in the Faculty of Science and Health on the TUS Athlone Campus. The mission of SHE is to bridge the gender data gap in sport, exercise, health and nutrition science research, with four principles underpinning the culture, activities and behaviours of the people and projects of SHE;

  1. Embed gender equality into teaching, and research activities at undergraduate and postgraduate level
  2. Prioritise women and girls specific research in a sustainable and developing research environment that aligns with national priorities
  3. Collaboratewith stakeholders from research, policy and practice across Ireland and internationally
  4. Disseminate evidence-based research that will inform decision making on issues for females in policy and practice.

SHE members include lecturing and support staff in the Department of Sport and Health Sciences and across TUS who are involved in research aligned with the SHE Research Centre. Friends of SHE from other Institutions are welcomed and actively sought out to support research collaborations and partnerships.
